Even tea without sweating offers weight loss benefits by boosting the body's ability to metabolize fat. In a recent study, participants who combined a daily habit of four to five cups of green tea with 25 minutes of exercise (or 180 minutes a week), lost two more pounds than the non–tea-drinking exercisers. Brewed green, white, or black teas are packed with compounds called catechins, belly-fat crusaders that blast belly fat by revving the metabolism, increasing the release of fat from fat cells, and speeding up the liver's fat-burning capacity. Both details have been added to the house when she next dreams, but the boy at the window can’t answer her knock because the house has no stairs inside and (something he doesn’t admit immediately) he can’t walk. When she wakes, she adds a knocker to the door, and, for someone to answer it, a face at an upper window. With it, she draws a standard child-style house, and when she sleeps, dreams of walking up to this very house, but being unable to get in. Bed-bound for weeks after an unspecified illness, she finds a special pencil (“one of those pencils that are simply asking to be written or drawn with”), thereafter referred to as The Pencil, in her grandmother’s button box. In Storr’s book, the “Secret Garden” is a dream world 10-year-old Marianne creates through drawings made in her waking life. All three need a proper review to be done at some point and I need to catch up on the reviews that are semi-drafted as well as the reviews for all the books I have read in the last while. These titles were probably the highlights of the year (other than Pratchett – he is always a highlight) – Knickers In A Twist (Ofelia Grand), If It Ain’t Love (Tamara Allen) and The House of Wolfings (William Morris) – each for different reasons, of course. The majority of the books involved were either Pratchett’s Discworld (some 30 of those) or Casanova’s memoirs, which amount to 30 volumes also. Of course, I find that it doesn’t reflect the amount of fanfictions read and that this biases the figure somewhat! I did the reading challenge on Goodreads – more as a curiosity thing (how many books do I read in a year?) – and ended on a high note of 110 books. I’ve been busy all this year! (Yikes – it’s been that long since my last update!) ![]() |
